Partner Spotlight
OneSky serves as an Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) service, prioritizing the safe integration of drones by offering comprehensive solutions, including airspace management, traffic coordination, communication tools, regulatory compliance assistance, and emergency response planning. The complete spectrum of OneSky’s UTM capabilities relies on integrating a robust set of Supplemental Data Services (SDSP) and APIs into their system. TruWeather Solutions plays a vital role in providing OneSky with quality micro weather data products. This collaboration enhances an operator’s weather awareness and decision-making capabilities.
What inspired you to be involved in this industry? Share any personal backstory or challenges that shaped your journey.
OneSky was inspired by our operational deployments for air and space operational systems within our parent company, Analytical Graphics, Inc. We elevated the “situational awareness” concepts to include decision support tools grounded in a strong analytical foundation. We are excited to shape operational systems that help the operator make better decisions by not only viewing the data but also understanding it. How accurate is my navigation solution? What is the quality of my communications link? Can I see all the obstacles around me? We have been doing these kinds of things for many years, supporting the Defense community, and we wanted to bring this same value to the Commercial markets.
What is the main problem you are solving or need you are filling with your business/service? Explain the gap and what makes you unique.
OneSky delivers an ecosystem that helps drone operators fly safely. This is based on UTM concepts, ASTM standards, and our ability to understand 3rd party data not usually seen in UTM systems. We focus on low-level data, data from non-traditional aviators, and cooperative data-sharing techniques. OneSky’s ability to aggregate this type of data, apply analysis techniques to derive further value, and then fuse it in a digital cockpit for today’s drone pilots is one of our core values.
What are the biggest advancements and innovations you see happening in the next decade?
We see the future of aviation based on cooperative systems like UTM. Safety and security systems require different techniques for understanding operations, such as cooperative vs. non-cooperative. The aerospace future will be based on networked operational control systems, airspace management concepts, inclusion of 3rd party data, and less reliance on 1:1 air traffic control.
