What inspired Skyway to be involved in the transportation industry?

Skyway was inspired by a collective vision of transforming the transportation landscape for a safer, more efficient, and sustainable future. The founders of Skyway shared a deep passion for addressing the challenges faced by traditional transportation systems, including congestion, environmental impact, and safety concerns. Each member of the team brings a unique perspective, having witnessed firsthand the limitations of existing infrastructures. This shared commitment to making a positive impact on communities around the world has become the driving force behind Skyway’s inception.

Skyway’s motivation to pioneer new approaches to mobility fuel our determination to create real-world solutions with unwavering determination.

What is the main problem Skyway is solving or need it is filling with its business/service?

Skyway is at the forefront of addressing congestion, environmental impact, and safety concerns in transportation through our dedication to Urban Air Mobility (UAM) and Advanced Air Mobility (AAM). Our distinctive edge lies in actively shaping the future of air traffic management, aligning with the FAA’s vision of xTM (Extensible Traffic Management). This framework delegates management responsibilities for UAM, drone activities, and Upper Level E operations away from the FAA to industry leaders like Skyway, positioning us uniquely to revolutionize the efficiency and responsiveness of air traffic.

Through our commitment to the implementation of xTM and our proactive approach in vertiport design and system simulations, Skyway is not merely addressing current urban mobility challenges. We are actively laying the groundwork for a more efficient, safe, and sustainable future in urban air transportation, ensuring our solutions are comprehensively tested and prepared for effective deployment. Our innovative strategy includes designing efficient vertiports and corridors seamlessly integrating with urban infrastructures. Through comprehensive simulations, we refine processes and technologies before implementation, ensuring operational readiness and safety. Skyway not only tackles current transportation challenges but actively shapes the future of air traffic management, making us a pivotal force in the evolution of urban mobility.

What are the biggest advancements and innovations Skyway sees happening in the next decade?

Skyway anticipates a transformative era in Urban Air Mobility (UAM), marked by significant advancements and innovations in several key areas:

  1. Advanced Vertiport Infrastructure: We foresee major developments in vertiport design and functionality. These advanced facilities will not only accommodate electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicles but also integrate seamlessly with urban environments. The focus will be on creating smart, multi-modal hubs that facilitate efficient passenger flow and connectivity with other forms of transportation.
  2. Autonomous Technologies: The integration of autonomous flight technologies is expected to progress significantly. This will not only improve operational efficiency but also enhance safety. Autonomous systems will help manage complex flight paths in urban landscapes, reducing the potential for human error and optimizing traffic flow.
  3. xTM: The implementation of Extensible Traffic Management (xTM) will revolutionize how UAM and autonomous operations are managed. These systems will enhance the efficiency and safety of urban airspace, accommodating the complexities of managing numerous eVTOL vehicles, drones, and other unmanned operations alongside traditional aviation.
  4. Weather Technology: The use of advanced sensors and IoT (Internet of Things) technology allows for real-time monitoring of urban microweather, providing granular data which is essential for accurate forecasting. Leveraging big data analytics and artificial intelligence, it’s possible to develop sophisticated models that predict urban microweather patterns with high accuracy, aiding in low-altitude operation planning and more profitable flight operations.
  5. Sustainable Energy Solutions: Sustainability will be a cornerstone of future developments. We are committed to exploring and integrating sustainable energy solutions, reducing the environmental footprint of urban air transportation. This includes not only the use of electric power in eVTOLs but also the incorporation of renewable energy sources in vertiport infrastructure.

With Skyway’s commitment to staying at the forefront of safety and developing technologies, their integration of artificial intelligence, advanced materials, and sustainable energy solutions is pivotal for the market as a whole.
